Terrible Experience Dining at The Gate Cafe, Taiping.

while i'm still calm and composed, i would like to relate an incident that had just happened to my friends and i at THE GATE CAFE, Taiping.

if you don't know what the hell's The Gate Cafe, it's that tiny overrated coffee shop near the fire station.

ok so back to my story. for the 3rd day of CNY, my friends and i decided to hang out and at the same time celebrate two of our friends' birthday at TGC, since most of us are back in Taiping. Calyn and I had arrived later so we had to pull in an extra table so we could join our friends. both Cal and i had had lunch at home so we didn't order anything. we were in the middle of a conversation when the owner of TGC, A DOUCHE, walked up to us and started to drag (mine & cal's) the table away. he said something along the line of "can i take this table" and began to pull the table away without my and Cal's consent.

we gave him our best mortified looks, "WHUT" we said. he stared at us. HARD. "i'mtakingthetable". and we're like "WHUT. WE'RE SITTING HERE." like what the hell man, we're sitting right there and you're just pulling the table away like you don't give a fcuk?

so then he said. "did you order anything?" well no but our friends did. FOOD & DRINKS THAT AMOUNTED close to RM50. quoted from a friend, 'since when there's a rule that states all customers of the same table must order something each'. one of my friends said that we didn't get the menu and he's like fine, he'll go get it. so he sighed, pushed the table back in and ran down to get the menu. while he's at it, Ong suggested that we leave the shop instead of giving that mofo more business.... which i think was the correct thing to do.

five minutes later, the owner came up, with a notebook and a pen in his hands, came up to our table and asked in a dissatisfied tone of voice. 'anything you want to order.' we had already reserved a cake beforehand and were in the middle of discussing if we should cancel the order or celebrate there like how we had originally planned.

out of nowhere, the owner FCKING SLAMMED the table and RAISED HIS FCKING VOICE. "ASKUZ ME, U WANT ORDER ANYTHING" causing other customers to turn to look at our direction.

Calyn: WHY ARE YOU SO RUDE

Douche: I AM THE OWNER, YOU CAN GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT. GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT!

Calyn: OWNER SO WHAT

Douche: *Yells something about the tables* NEXT TIME YOU WANT COME, YOU CALL TO RESERVE. I HAVE BUSINESS CARDS NAH I GIVE YOU BUSINESS CARDS.

Calyn: SO? YOU DIDN'T EVEN STATE THAT THE TABLES WERE RESERVED

Douche: YOU WANT COME, YOU RESERVE (Obviously didn't understand what Cal just said)

ok let's pause the narrating session for a couple of minutes, shall we? i need to get something out, promise it won't take long.

first off, yes, you did not fcking let us know that the tables were fcking RESERVED. was there any sign? was there any plate that state "R-E-S-E-R-V-E-D". did ANYONE bother to come tell us? NO.

ALL YOU FUCKING DID WAS DRAG THE TABLE AWAY.

Douche: GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT

Me: *Throws douche's name card to the table* I SUGGEST YOU START LEARNING SOME MANNERS

Douche: ... *Stands there and shows Douche Face*

hello brother, you think your cafe is so great? it's because of CNY that your business seems good these days. don't act busy okay? oh by the way, i saw your name card. Stanley Yong (sui) is it? CIVIL ENG. horrrr... WASHINGTON D.C too... i see, i see. been in overseas for too long that you have forgotten your roots? your manners? is this the kind of attitude you want to show to customers? the kind of example you're setting for your workers? to be honest i wonder how your shop is still standing. you're LUCKY Taiping is a small town where hang-out places are limited. your food are over priced when they taste nothing spectacular. i only go there for the ambiance because i liked the couches BUT NO MORE. your cheap cafe has found its way in my blacklist, congratulations DOUCHE.

side note: the workers are nice, but YOU... YOU ARE JUSTTTTT... *shakes head*

and you dare to collect SERVICE CHARGE from us? RM4.37. brother, i'd choose the MAMAK'S over your 'oh-so-fab' coffee shop anytime. OH AND GOOD NEWS; THE CNY HYPE IS GONNA END. LET'S SEE HOW YOUR BUSINESS WILL GO THEN. since i am such a generous & forgiving person in nature, i'll forget about the service charge that you DIDN'T DESERVE.

I WILL EVEN THROW IN A FREE FLY SWATTER COS' OBVIOUSLY YOU'LL BE NEEDING IT.

oh and the cake we have reserved? YOU CAN SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS.

"Stanley Yong (sui) is it? "

Haha, I love this part!

If I were there, instead of throwing the card on the table, I WOULD HAVE TORN IT TO PIECES AND THREW THE BITS ON THE FLOOR.

Let him do the cleaning, since you guys already paid the service charge (which I suppose includes the floor-cleaning as well).

Will spread this around :D

peacy: he waved his name card at our face and yelled, "i am the owner, you can get out of my restaurant." so yes, i am pretty sure he is the owner, perhaps for the Taiping branch? i checked the Facebook page but nope, his face wasn't in it.
